NOUN VC vows to enhance digital E-learning for Pupils

As part of efforts to conform to national policy on basic education and enhance community enrolment ,the Vice- Chencellor of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Professor Olufemi Peters,said the National Open University will continue to enhance digital E-learning for Pupils of NOUN Staff School in Kaduna,and will support the introduction of additional international languages apart from the recently introduced Arabic  langauge tough at their Nursery and Primary school.

The Vice-Chencellor is speaking at the 9th Speech and Prize giving day,in Kaduna state at the weekend, represented by the Deputy Vice -Chencellor administration Professor Isaac Butswat ,adding that teaching the pupils with digital E-learning and information technology will benefit them and will also make them to be selfreliance  and meet up with the global practice.

Professor Isaac Butswat adding that "So far  about 20 Computer have been put in place to the school to enable them familiarise computer and also to enhance digital E-learning Platforms. "I'm also happy with the introduction of international language I.e.,  Arabic , we may even consider introducing more.

Professor Isaac Butswat said he is  impressed with the performance of our pupils and the credit goes to the staff and indeed the director of Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD.)"We have alot of potential and activities like this are more of a talent hunt.

"We seek the cooperation of the community is highly needed and then the state government what ever they can bring to assist us that could be good I'm encouraging the staff and pupil's to make sure they keep up to the tasks.  

In her remarked, the Deputy Governor of Kaduna state Dr, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe,how is also Chairperson of the occasion, represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Kaduna state, Dr, Halliru Musa Abubakar, said the State Government will continue to partner with National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to enhance digital E-learning, which is part of  the policy of Nigerian Government on education system,

"I,want to congratulate the school on the achievement in going from 8 pupils to 2012 to more than 400 in 2023 so is actually a very big achievement.

Dr, Halliru, Congratulated the graduating pupils and also encourage them to invive this digital technology because that is the only way they can actually cope with modern education. 

According to him"we have this digital transformation not only in education you must have had when I spoke about Nigerian E-learning Platforms, I think some how will be information systems,all this are the digital platform and also to use this digital technology to monitor what the teachers are doing in our various classes.             

He therefore advice them to read harder and to know that education is the for human capital development without education their will be no capital development.

In his address the Director Centre for Human Resource Development CHRD Associate Professor Aminu Umar  thank the University management for the support to the school.

"This is an integrate aspect of a university community development effort to build  Nigeria, .

The Associate Professor added that "the university  has '3' functioning buses for you,  also, the vice chancellor have approved about 20 branded HP computer  systems to the school out of them 12' have been delivered and we have one of the best computers unit of primary schools in this community.

According to CHRD Director "And for the benefit of our host community i.e., barakallahu community the vice chancellor 4months ago donated N500,000 to barakallahu community primary school for  infrastructural development to enhance earning.

He called for  more additional classroom and bus service is needed to meet up basic 9 and increase enrollment,. The director call on politicians and philanthropist to support NOUN in its quest for value addition to Kaduna and Nigeria.

The event was graced in attendance by Security agencies, educational stakeholders, clergies, traditional rules, parents of the pupils. Highlights of the event include spelling quiz competition among pupils,Paper presentation by Professor. Nuhu Garba on Artificial intelligence, goodwill massage from diniteries.
