The Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani on 25th October 2023 presented the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar with documents for 43.746 hectares of land allocated to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) by the Kaduna State Government. The land is for the development of affordable Post-Service Housing Estates that would benefit NAF Senior Non-Commissioned and Non-Commissioned Officers.
Samuel Aruwan, the Administrator of the Kaduna Capital
Territory Authority (KCTA), who represented Governor Sani at the brief ceremony
at NAF Headquarters, Abuja handed over the land documents to the CAS. Governor
Sani praised the CAS for his leadership and the NAF for its efforts and
sacrifices in the continuing fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and
other forms of criminality in Kaduna State and the nation generally.
Aruwan, who is also the Overseer, Ministry of Internal
Security and Home Affairs, assured NAF of the State Government's commitment
towards improving the welfare of NAF personnel, and indeed the personnel of all
security forces.
Speaking after the presentation, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar
lauded Governor Sani and the good people of Kaduna State for the kind gesture,
which he said symbolizes the enduring and harmonious relationship between the
NAF and Kaduna State, dating back to the 1960s. He also noted that Kaduna
State, being home of NAF’s premier Base, remains home to the NAF and its
personnel, serving and retired, irrespective of their states of origin.
Shedding more light on why the Nigerian Air Force is prioritising provision of
affordable Post -Service Housing Estates for its personnel, Air Marshall
Abubakar said: "The most valuable resource that the NAF possesses is its
personnel and without well-motivated and dedicated personnel, the most
sophisticated weapon system will be ineffective.” He assured that the land
would be put to good use.
The allocated 43.746 hectares of land is the first of two
approvals that Governor Sani promised
the Nigerian Air Force. The second approval of another 44.894 hectares will be
presented to NAF upon completion of all due processes as outlined by Kaduna
Capital Territory Authority (KCTA).
