YYSA pledges to protect Southwest region’s peace, unity, and heritage from threats

Yoruba

The Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has pledged to protect the Southwest region and its heritage from any external threats to peace, unity, and development.

This assurance comes in response to a planned protest against national hardship by some groups scheduled for August.

In a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan, YYSA National President Olalekan Hammed and National Secretary Olawale Ajao revealed that they had uncovered plans by unscrupulous individuals to exploit the upcoming protest to commit acts of sabotage.

The youths warned of a scheme to set major economic development facilities in the Southwest on fire.

“We have uncovered some secret plans by unscrupulous elements to take advantage of the intending nationwide protest against hardship to perpetrate evils by setting ablaze all our major economic development facilities in the Southwest," the statement read.
