The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reported that two individuals narrowly escaped death on Tuesday when a commercial bus collided with a slow-moving truck.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA's Permanent Secretary, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the victims sustained various injuries. The accident occurred at Ojota, Maryland, Lagos, around 4:45 a.m., and was attributed to excessive speed and loss of control.

Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the Tiger Response Team from the command and control center in Alausa, Ikeja, was dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, it was found that a commercial bus with registration number APP 209XZ had crashed into an articulated vehicle with registration number T4845LA. The two individuals trapped in the bus were rescued and taken to the hospital with injuries.”

The investigation revealed that the crash happened because the bus was traveling at high speed and struck the slower-moving truck from behind. The resulting gridlock was cleared, and the road was reopened before rush hour.

Oke-Osanyintolu urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations and drive safely to prevent accidents and protect lives and property.
